C.P.R. lands in the Tarbolton, Manitoba, area sold for $2.50 an acre.

Manitoba — March 2, 1881

Manitoba Boundaries Act passed in Parliament, providing for an extension of the province’s borders.

Manitoba — May 1881

The town of Brandon, Manitoba, was created when the site was selected over Grand Valley as a crossing and divisional point on the C.P.R. Within a month it is a busy centre.

James Pettit represented the Daly region on the Brandon County Council, the current form of local government.
